Planning a trip to Toyama

How the spots group

In the city of Toyama, Toyama Castle is 0.6 km from the Toyama Glass Art Museum in a straight line and 1.8 km from Kansui Park. In Takaoka, Zuiryuji Temple is 1.8 km from Takaoka Castle, and the Amaharashi Coast is in Takaoka too. In Kurobe, Unazuki Onsen and the Kurobe Gorge Railway are at the same place, and in Uozu the Uozu Buried Forest Museum is 2.7 km from the Uozu Aquarium. Himi Fishing Port is in Himi and Gokayama Ainokura in Nanto; the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route spot is 2.1 km from Mount Tate, about 64 km from Himi.

Where to start

The one checked route is to the Amaharashi Coast: the JR Himi Line from JR Takaoka (or Shin-Takaoka) Station to Amaharashi Station. Other pages name the nearest station or stop: Himi on the Himi Line for Himi Fishing Port, Unazukionsen on the Toyama Chihō Railway for Unazuki Onsen and the Kurobe Gorge Railway, Takaoka for Zuiryuji Temple, Nishichou for the Toyama Glass Art Museum, Kokusai-kaigijō-mae for Toyama Castle, and Dentetsu-Uozu for the Uozu Buried Forest Museum. The pages for the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, the Kurobe Gorge Railway and Midagahara say their season, timetables and fares have not been checked.

Seasons and closures

What comes into Himi Fishing Port changes with the seasons: sardines in spring, tuna in summer and yellowtail from autumn into winter, when the branded Himi Kanburi is landed. Our checked record says the mountains show best from the Amaharashi Coast on clear winter days, roughly November to March, in the afternoon. The operating seasons of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and the Kurobe Gorge Railway have not been checked. Takase Shrine holds its main festival on 13 September.
