Our guide

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, Tochō for short, in Shinjuku is the seat of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Designed by Kenzō Tange, it is a complex of three structures, each taking up a city block. The tallest, Building No. 1, rises 48 storeys and splits into two towers at the 33rd floor, with three levels below ground. The design was meant to suggest an integrated circuit while also evoking a Gothic cathedral, and it is the tallest city hall in the world.

Tochōmae Station is about 150 m away in a straight line. Meiji Jingu is about 1.6 km off and Shinjuku Gyoen about 1.7 km. We have not checked public access or hours.
