Tsukiji Outer Market is a shopping district in Tsukiji 4- and 6-chōme, Chūō City, between the site of the former Tsukiji wholesale market and the Tsukiji 4-chōme crossing. It grew up around the wholesale market, selling to buyers from restaurants and shops, and has long drawn ordinary shoppers and tourists too. When the wholesale market moved to Toyosu in October 2018, the outer market stayed and kept its name; about 460 shops and restaurants, mainly for seafood, carry on. That same month Chūō City opened Tsukiji Uogashi, a building with about 60 fresh-food stalls, to keep the area lively.
Prices are set with trade buyers in mind, so do not expect to haggle. Tsukijishijō Station is about 450 m away in a straight line, and Hama-rikyū Gardens about 600 m.
