Our guide

Ginza is a popular upscale shopping district in Tokyo, with internationally renowned department stores, boutiques, restaurants and coffee houses in Chūō ward. It has deep roots: Ginza was part of the old Kyōbashi ward, which with Nihonbashi and Kanda formed the core of Shitamachi, the original downtown of Edo.

Ginza Station on the Ginza Line is about 150 m from the centre, and Matsuya department store is right there, 0.1 km away. Ginza makes a good base for a walking day: Tsukiji Outer Market is about 1.2 km away in a straight line, Hama-rikyū Gardens 1.3 km and Imperial Palace East Gardens 1.8 km, with Tokyo Tower about 2.3 km off.
