Nishiki Market — the name means “brocade market” — runs along the eastern end of Nishikikōji Street in downtown Kyoto, one block north of and parallel to Shijō Street, and west of Teramachi Street. It has a long history, and it is known as the place to buy many of Kyoto's famous foods and goods.
Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyū Kyōto Main Line is about 350 m away in a straight line, and Gion District about 800 m, so the two fit easily into one walk.

Nishiki Market (錦市場, Nishiki Ichiba; literally "brocade market") is a marketplace in downtown Kyoto, located on the east end of Nishikikōji Street, one block north and parallel to Shijō Street (四条通, Shijō-dōri) and west of Teramachi Street (寺町通, Teramachi-dōri). Rich with history and tradition, the market is renowned as the place to obtain many of Kyoto's famous foods and goods.
