Our guide

Gujō Hachiman is the old castle town at the centre of Gujō, Gifu. It was the town of Hachiman until it merged into the new city of Gujō in 2004, and it has long been the political and commercial heart of the district, having grown up as the castle town of the Hachiman domain. Water drawn from its rivers and springs still runs to shared washing places in the streets.

Gujō Hachiman Castle, with a restored keep, stands on the hill above the town, about 600 m away in a straight line. Gujō-Hachiman Station on the Etsumi-Nan Line is about 1.7 km off.
