Turn your wish list into a route
All time budgets below are our planning estimates, not official visit durations or guaranteed travel times. They exclude queues and meals unless stated. Check live directions, weather and opening times before leaving; allow more time if you walk slowly or travel with children.
Day 1 · Osaka Castle and the flavours of Minami
Morning: Osaka Castle and its Main Tower. Continue to Kuromon Market around lunchtime, then walk toward Dotonbori for a canal-side stroll. Take a break before exploring the signs and choosing dinner. Market shops have different hours; do not leave the market until late evening.
Osaka Castle → Kuromon Market: walk back to Tanimachi 4-chome Station, take the Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line to Tanimachi 9-chome, and change to the Sennichimae Line for Nippombashi. The market lists approximately 5 minutes on foot from Exit 10. Kuromon → Dotonbori: continue on foot toward the canal. Check a current walking route and allow for crossings, station walks and breaks; no journey time is guaranteed.
Day 2 · Shitenno-ji and Shinsekai
Morning: Shitenno-ji, with time to worship and visit the paid central precinct if you wish. After lunch, continue to Shinsekai for a relaxed walk beneath Tsutenkaku. This stop stays at street level; a tower visit needs its own ticket and extra time. Keep the rest of the afternoon flexible.
Shitenno-ji → Shinsekai: the temple lists a 12-minute walk south to Tennoji Station. Take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line from Tennoji to Dobutsuen-mae, then walk to Shinsekai; the tourism bureau lists approximately 3 minutes from this station to the district. These are official approach estimates, not the total transfer time.
Only one day? Choose Day 1 or Day 2. If walking is difficult, choose fewer stops and check official accessibility information. Give Universal Studios Japan a separate day rather than adding it to this five-stop plan.
🛏️ Where to stay for this plan
Two days means at least one night in Osaka. A hotel close to a station saves time on both mornings.

Standard individual adult admission to the central precinct is ¥500. The garden and Treasure Hall are separate visits outside this plan.
- Time to set aside

- Getting there

Finish beneath Osaka’s familiar tower
Look up at Tsutenkaku, then explore the surrounding streets and choose a place for a snack or a break. This plan stays outside the tower. If you want the observation deck or other tower attractions, check their official tickets and opening information and reserve additional time. Shop hours and closing days vary.
- Time to set aside
- 60–90 minutes for the neighbourhood; meals and tower admission excluded
- Getting there
- The tourism bureau lists approximately 3 minutes on foot from Osaka Metro Midosuji or Sakaisuji Line Dobutsuen-mae Station to Shinsekai. The Sakaisuji Line’s Ebisucho Station is another entrance to the district.
Before you go
- Recheck Osaka Castle and Shitenno-ji opening information before travelling. Budget separately for transport, food and optional gardens, museums or Tsutenkaku admission. Market and restaurant hours vary by shop.
- Wear comfortable shoes and allow for walks inside the castle grounds. This is not a confirmed step-free itinerary.
- Respect worshippers and photography signs. Keep paths and bridges clear, use the shop’s designated eating area and follow local instructions.
- Save this page in your browser bookmarks. Use the map buttons to check the walking route or public transport for your actual departure time.
