Our guide
Tatsuoka Castle, in what is now the city of Saku, Nagano, was a five-pointed “star fort” of the Bakumatsu period, the main fortress of the Tatsuoka Domain of the Ogyū-Matsudaira clan. With Goryōkaku in Hakodate it is one of only two star forts in Japan, and its ruins have been a National Historic Site since 1934.
Usuda Station on the Koumi Line is about 1.2 km away in a straight line. We have not checked what can be seen on the site today.
