Karuizawa, centred on the Saku area of eastern Nagano, is famous as a summer retreat and a place for holiday homes. The name is used loosely: in the narrow sense it means the Kyū-Karuizawa district or the town of Karuizawa itself; in the broad sense it also takes in neighbouring areas such as Miyota (Nishi-Karuizawa) and parts of Gunma (Kita-Karuizawa).
Karuizawa Station, on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, is about 1.2 km from the point this page is mapped to, in a straight line. We have not checked particular places in the area.
