Our guide

Saitama Stadium 2002, known simply as Saisuta, in Midori Ward, Saitama, is the largest football-only stadium in Japan and one of the largest stadiums in Asia. It is the home of Urawa Red Diamonds, hosted semi-finals of both the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2020 Olympic football tournament, and is the home ground of the Japan national team for almost every World Cup qualifier.

Our checked record says to take the Saitama Rapid Railway to Urawa-Misono Station and walk about 1.2 km along a pedestrian path; on big match days, aim to reach Urawa-Misono an hour before kick-off and check the organiser's site for shuttle buses. Journey times are in “Plan your visit” below.
