Our guide
Ōzu Castle, also called Jizōgatake Castle, stands in Ōzu, Ehime. The earliest recorded defences here date from the beginning of the 14th century and are said to have been built by Utsunomiya Toyofusa. The keep had deteriorated so badly by 1888 that it was demolished; it was rebuilt in 2004 using traditional building methods.
Iyo-Ōzu Station on the Yosan Line is about 1.1 km away in a straight line. We have not checked opening hours or fees.

Ōzu Castle (大洲城, Ōzu-jō), also known as Jizōgatake Castle (地蔵ヶ嶽城, Jizō-ga-take-jō), is a castle located in Ōzu, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. The earliest recorded defensive structures date back to the beginning of the 14th century and were supposedly built by Utsunomiya Toyofusa. In 1888, deterioration of the castle keep (天守, tenshu) led to its demolition; it was later rebuilt in 2004 according to traditional construction methods.
