Our guide

Kurokabe Square is a sightseeing area in the old town of Nagahama, Shiga, that makes use of its traditional buildings. The name covers the black-plastered Kurokabe buildings No. 1 to No. 30, centred on the crossroads of the Hokkoku Kaidō and Ōtemon-dōri. Museums, galleries, glass workshops, restaurants and cafés fill buildings from the Edo and Meiji periods, and it is known as Japan's largest area for glass art, drawing about two million visitors a year.

Nagahama Station on the Hokuriku Main Line is about 300 m away in a straight line, and Nagahama Castle about 600 m.
