Our guide

Fujisan Hongū Sengen Taisha, in the city of Fujinomiya, Shizuoka, is the ichinomiya of the former Suruga Province and the head shrine of about 1,300 Sengen (Asama) shrines across Japan. Its grounds spread widely through central Fujinomiya — and the whole top of Mount Fuji, from the 8th station up, is also counted as part of them. The main festival is held every year on 5 May, with yabusame, archery on horseback. In 2013 the shrine was added to the World Heritage List as part of the Fujisan cultural site.

Fuji view from Fujinomiya covers the same point and the rest of the city. Nishi-Fujinomiya Station on the Minobu Line is about 700 m away in a straight line.
