Our guide
Expo Commemoration Park, in Suita about 15 km north of Umeda, is the site of Expo '70, the World's Fair held from 15 March to 13 September 1970. Today it is some 264 hectares of lawn and woodland with educational and leisure facilities, including the National Museum of Ethnology. Its symbol is the Tower of the Sun, the landmark of Expo '70, which has been preserved and repaired a number of times, and some of the fair's other structures and materials remain too.
The Osaka Monorail stops at Bampaku-kinen-kōen and Kōen-higashiguchi stations. From the Shinkansen, take the Midōsuji Line from Shin-Osaka to Senri-Chūō and change to the monorail; the monorail also connects with the Hankyu lines, the Tanimachi Line and the Keihan Main Line. We have not checked opening hours or fees.
