Our guide
The Cedar Avenue of Nikkō is the popular name for three tree-lined roads in the city of Nikkō, Tochigi: the Nikkō Kaidō, the Nikkō Reiheishi Kaidō and the Aizu Nishi Kaidō. Some 13,000 Japanese cedars line a total of 35.41 km, forming a grand approach to the shrines and temples of Nikkō. Though not one continuous road, it was listed in the 1996 Guinness Book of World Records as the world's longest tree-lined avenue, and it is the only cultural property in Japan designated both a Special Historic Site and a Special Natural Monument.
Imaichi Station on the Nikkō Line is about 250 m from the point we map.
