Our guide

Akita Castle, sometimes called Fort Akita, is the site of a fortified settlement of the Nara period in what is now the city of Akita. The name is sometimes wrongly used for Kubota Castle, the Edo-period castle of the Satake clan, daimyō of the Kubota Domain; this page is about the much older fort.

Koshiō Shrine is about 600 m away and Minato Castle about 2 km. We have not checked what can be seen on the site today or a public-transport route.
