Moeginomura is worth the trip as a whole village rather than a single sight: restaurants, a hotel, a brewery, a café, a merry-go-round, a music box museum, gift shops and craft studios sit together on the Kiyosato Plateau, about 1,200 m up. Look for the stone walls left by the settlers who cleared the land, the natural garden with more than 700 plant species, the carousel that has stood here since 1993 and the restaurant ROCK, open since 1971.

What this place is
Moeginomura (Moegi Village) is a tourist complex on the Kiyosato Plateau in Hokuto, Yamanashi Prefecture, at an altitude of about 1,200 m. It brings together restaurants, a hotel, a brewery, a café, a merry-go-round, a music box museum, gift shops and craft studios.
Stone walls built by the settlers who cleared the land in the first half of the 20th century run through the site. The natural garden, Natural Gardens MOEGI, was laid out over ten years from 2012 under the landscape designer Paul Smither; it covers about 32,000 m² and has more than 700 plant species. The restaurant ROCK has been open since 1971, the carousel bought in the United States has stood here since 1993, and the Kiyosato Field Ballet, an outdoor ballet performance, has been staged here for more than 30 years.
