Our guide

Yonezawa Castle was a flatland castle in the centre of Yonezawa, in southern Yamagata, and throughout the Edo period it was home to the Uesugi clan, lords of the Yonezawa Domain. This page is for the castle ruins.

The Uesugi story is right here: Uesugi Shrine is about 0.1 km away and the Yonezawa City Uesugi Museum about 0.3 km. Minami-Yonezawa Station is about 1.5 km off in a straight line. We have not checked opening hours or fees.
