Our guide
Universal Studios Japan opened on 31 March 2001, the first Universal park outside the United States. Its layout is close to Universal Studios Florida, with attractions drawn from Orlando and Hollywood and a small number found only here. It is very popular: 16 million visitors in 2024 made it the most visited theme park in Asia, so plan for company.
It is easy to reach. The park's own figures put Universal City Station about 11 minutes from Osaka Station and about 16 from Shin-Osaka, and around 65 minutes from Kansai Airport — close enough to do from a hotel in the city centre.
If you have energy left, Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is about 1.2 km away in a straight line.
