Shiwa Castle was an early Heian-period fortified stockade in what is now the city of Morioka, Iwate. The site was designated a National Historic Site in 1979. Our source says little more than that, so this page is short.
Morioka Castle Ruins Park is about 4 km away. We have not checked what can be seen on the site today or a public-transport route.

What this place is
Shiwa Castle (志波城, Shiwa-jō) was an early Heian period jōsaku-style Japanese castle located in what is now part of the city of Morioka, Iwate Prefecture in the Tōhoku region of far northern Honshu, Japan. The site was proclaimed a National Historic Site of Japan in 1979.
