Our guide
Ozegahara is a high-altitude marsh of about 8 km² in Oze National Park, and a popular place to hike. It is known for its plants — among them mizubashō (white skunk cabbage), Nikkō-kisuge (yellow alpine lilies) and watasuge (cotton grass).
We have not checked trails, the season when the marsh is open, or a route to a trailhead, so plan with local information before you go.

What this place is
Ozegahara (尾瀬ヶ原) is a high altitude marshland in the Oze National Park, Japan. Approximately 8 km2 in size, the marshland is well known for various species of plants, including the "mizu-bashō" (White Skunk Cabbage), "Nikkōkisuge" (yellow alpine lilies, Hemerocallis dumortieri var. esculenta) and "Watasuge" (Eriophorum vaginatum). The marshland is a popular hiking destination.
