Minakami Onsen, in the town of Minakami in northern Gunma, is the central hot spring of the Minakami spa area below Mount Tanigawa. Inns of every size crowd the cliffs along the upper Tone River near Minakami Station, and the Yuhara and Minakami bridges are lit up at night. It grew quickly after the Second World War and now ranks with Kusatsu Onsen and Ikaho Onsen among Gunma's leading spa towns.
