Our guide

Midland Square, officially the Toyota-Mainichi Building, is a skyscraper in the Meieki district of Nakamura Ward, Nagoya, opened in early 2007. At 247 m it is the tallest building in Nagoya — slightly taller than the nearby JR Central Towers — and, as of 2025, the ninth-tallest in Japan. It houses offices of companies including Toyota, Towa Real Estate and the Mainichi Shimbun, a shopping centre with 60 brand stores, two car showrooms and a cinema. It holds the record for the highest open-air observation deck in Japan, reached by unusual double-deck lifts that take only 40 seconds to the top. The name comes from the Chūbu, or “central”, region, of which Nagoya is the capital.

Nagoya Station is about 150 m away, and Noritake Garden about 1 km. We have not checked the observation deck's hours or fees.
