Fukui Castle, a castle on flat ground in the city of Fukui, was the seat of a branch of the Matsudaira clan, hereditary daimyō of the Fukui Domain under the Tokugawa shogunate. It was also called Kitanoshō Castle, after the earlier castle built by Shibata Katsuie, over whose ruins it partly stands.
