Our guide

The Adachi Museum of Art opened in Yasugi, Shimane, in 1970. It holds a collection of modern Japanese painting (nihonga), including works by Yokoyama Taikan, and around 1,500 works of painting, pottery and other art, but it is just as famous for its gardens — six of them — spread over some 165,000 m². The Michelin Green Guide Japan gives it its top rating of three stars, and since April 2020 a separate hall has shown the work of Kitaōji Rosanjin.

We have not checked opening hours, fees or a public-transport route, so check the museum's own information and plan the journey on the map before you go.
