Amerikamura, “American Village” — locals call it Ame-mura — is a large shopping and entertainment area west of Shinsaibashi Station in Chūō Ward, Osaka, stretching from Nagahori-dōri to Dōtonbori. A small replica of the Statue of Liberty looks down on its streets, and at its centre is Triangle Park, a concrete square surrounded by shops selling Western fashion, bars and clubs. It is known as a haunt of foreign residents, though the crowds are mostly Japanese.
Our checked record says Shinsaibashi and Yotsubashi stations are only a few minutes' walk away, with Namba a little further; see “Plan your visit” below. Dotonbori is about 500 m away and Orix Theater about 700 m.

What this place is
Amerikamura (also America mura; アメリカ村, American Village) is a sizable retail and entertainment area near Shinsaibashi in the Chūō-ku district of Osaka, Japan. It is usually referred to by locals as "Ame-mura".Amerikamura is an area stretching from Nagahori Street to Dotonbori, located in the west side of the Shinsaibashi station. Amerikamura is identifiable by a small-scale reproduction of the Statue of Liberty that peers down on the streets. It is a well-known haunt of expatriates, and centres on Triangle Park, a concrete rest area surrounded by retail outlets of Western fashions, bars and nightclubs, some of which are run by Westerners. Its reputation as a hangout for foreigners is a matter of degree. Osaka's registered foreign population is a small fraction of the total population; the makeup of the crowds and retail space in Ame-mura is predominantly Japanese.

Getting there by public transport
- Shinsaibashi Station (Osaka Metro Midōsuji and Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi lines) or Yotsubashi Station (Yotsubashi Line): about 3 minutes on foot.
- Namba Station (Midōsuji, Yotsubashi and Sennichimae lines) or Osaka-Namba Station (Kintetsu and Hanshin): about 7 minutes.
- JR Namba: about 8 minutes.
