Our guide

Marugame Castle stands in the centre of Marugame, in the old province of Sanuki on Shikoku. Through the Edo period it was the seat of the Marugame Domain, ruled by the Kyōgoku clan. Its keep is one of only about a dozen original wooden keeps in Japan built before 1860 — like Matsuyama Castle, elsewhere on Shikoku — and the site has been a National Historic Site since 1953.

Marugame Station is about 900 m away in a straight line. We have not checked opening hours or fees, so check local information before you go.
