Our guide

Saijō Sakagura-dōri, “sake brewery street”, is the popular name of a street in the Saijō district of Higashihiroshima. It was laid out as the Saigoku Kaidō highway between the late 16th and early 17th centuries and was the main street of the Yokkaichi post town. Today it runs east–west through the heart of Saijō's sake making, which flourished from the Meiji era, and its breweries are listed by the Japanese ICOMOS committee among Japan's 20th-century heritage.

Saijō Station on the San'yō Main Line is only about 50 m away in a straight line. We have not checked which breweries take visitors, so look for local information before you go.
