Our guide

Ōno Castle was an ancient Korean-style mountain fortress straddling the cities of Ōnojō and Dazaifu and the town of Umi in Fukuoka. Its ruins became a National Historic Site in 1932 and a Special Historic Site in 1953, and the protected area was enlarged in 2012. The city of Ōnojō takes its name from the castle, although about 80% of the site lies in Umi.

Mizuki Castle is about 2.9 km away, Dazaifu Tenmangu about 3.1 km and Kyushu National Museum about 3.6 km. We have not checked the paths or a public-transport route, so look for local information before you go.
