Our guide

Huis Ten Bosch is a theme park in Sasebo that recreates the Netherlands, with life-size copies of old Dutch buildings. Its name means “House in the Woods”, after Huis ten Bosch in The Hague, one of the three official residences of the Dutch royal family. Inside are Dutch-style hotels, villas, theatres, museums, shops and restaurants, along with canals, windmills, rides and a park planted with seasonal flowers.

Huis Ten Bosch Station on the Ōmura Line is about 900 m away in a straight line. We have not checked tickets or opening hours, so use the park's own site for those.

There is a real connection behind the idea: in Nagasaki city, Dejima was the Dutch trading post through which Japan dealt with the West for more than two centuries.
