Hitachi Seaside Park is a national government park in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki, and the details we have checked point to the two times of year to aim for: the nemophila season in spring and the kochia season in autumn (in 2026, 3 April–6 May and 9 October–3 November). During those weeks a seasonal charge is added to the normal entry fee, and the park opens every day.
Outside the busy periods the park is closed on Tuesdays, so check the calendar before you go. From Tokyo, the JR Jōban Line limited express reaches Katsuta in about 85 minutes; from stand 2 at the east exit, local buses reach the West Entrance in about 15 minutes. A few days a year entry is free — in 2026, 10 and 17 May and 26 and 27 September.

Getting there by public transport
- JR Jōban Line limited express from Tokyo to Katsuta, about 85 minutes.
- From stand 2 at Katsuta Station’s east exit, local buses reach the park’s West Entrance in about 15 minutes (Pleasure Garden about 25 minutes, South Entrance about 30 minutes); a taxi to the West Entrance takes about 15 minutes.
- Or change at Katsuta to the Hitachinaka Seaside Railway Minato Line to Ajigaura (about 30 minutes), then the Smile Aozora Bus to the West Entrance (about 10 minutes) or walk about 20 minutes to the South Entrance.
