Funai Castle in the city of Ōita was begun in 1597 by Fukuhara Naotaka and completed in 1602 by Takenaka Shigetoshi, with a four-storey keep. Its turrets and keep all burned down in 1743. Some parts were rebuilt in the 1800s, including two turrets that still stand; the covered bridge over the moat, three more turrets and the main gate were rebuilt in the 20th century. Original remains include parts of the stone and plaster walls and the moat.

Funai Castle (府内城, Funai-jō) is a castle in Ōita city, Ōita Prefecture, Japan. Fukuhara Naotaka began building it in 1597, and Takenaka Shigetoshi enlarged it and completed it, with a four-storey keep, in 1602. The castle had several turrets (yagura), all of which were burnt down with the keep in 1743. Some parts of the castle were rebuilt in the 1800s, including two of the turrets which still stand today. The covered bridge that led to the castle over its moat, as well as three more turrets and the main castle gate, were rebuilt in the 20th century. Original remains also include parts of the stone and plaster walls, as well as the moat.
