Our guide

Daikaku-ji, a Shingon temple in Ukyō Ward in western Kyoto, stands on the site of a residence of Emperor Saga (785–842); later, several emperors ran their cloistered rule from here. It is the headquarters of the Saga Go-ryū school of ikebana, and its artificial lake, Ōsawa Pond, is one of the oldest Japanese garden ponds surviving from the Heian period.

Tenryū-ji is about 1.4 km away in a straight line, and Torokko Saga Station about 1.1 km. We have not checked opening hours or fees.
