Our guide

Nobeoka Castle stood on Shiroyama, a lone hill between the Gokase and Ōse rivers in Nobeoka, Miyazaki Prefecture, and the two rivers served as its outer moats. It was first called Agata Castle. Its best-known remnant is the “Sennin-goroshi” wall, about 19 m high, whose name comes from a story: pull out one stone, it is said, and the whole wall would come down, killing a thousand attackers at once.

The hill is now a park. Nobeoka Station is about 1.1 km away in a straight line, and Naitō Memorial Museum is about 0.6 km off.
