Our guide

The Arashiyama bamboo grove is a public path about 400 m long, running between Nonomiya Shrine, the north gate of Tenryū-ji and Ōkōchi Sansō. The path itself is free; the temples and gardens beside it charge their own admission. Allow 20 to 30 minutes for the path alone, and go in daylight.

It is about a 13-minute walk from JR Saga-Arashiyama Station, 10 minutes from Randen Arashiyama, or 21 minutes from Hankyū Arashiyama. Tenryū-ji is right beside the point this page is mapped to, and Daikaku-ji is about 1.5 km away.
