Our guide
Sarushima, “Monkey Island”, is a small island off Yokosuka, Kanagawa, and the only natural island in Tokyo Bay. The Tokugawa shogunate used it as a gun battery in the Edo period; in 1853 Matthew C. Perry named it Perry Island; and after the Meiji Restoration it was developed as part of the Yokosuka Navy Yard.
Japanese battleship Mikasa is about 1.8 km away and Mikasa Park about 1.9 km. We have not checked boats to the island, so look for local information before you go.
