Our guide

The Sakiyama Shell Mound, in what is now the city of Miyako, Iwate, is an archaeological site with a Jōmon-period shell midden and the remains of a settlement beside it. It has been a National Historic Site since 1996. Our source says little more than that, so this page is short.

Jodogahama Beach is about 3.2 km away. We have not checked what can be seen at the site or a public-transport route.
