Our guide
Phoenix Seagaia Resort sits in the coastal pine forest of Miyazaki's Hitotsuba district. It was planned as the centrepiece of the Miyazaki–Nichinan Coast resort scheme, the first designated under Japan's Resort Law, and opened in stages in 1993 and 1994. Its indoor water park, the Ocean Dome, once one of the largest in the world, closed in 2007. Today the resort has the 43-storey Phoenix Seagaia Ocean Tower hotel, forest condominiums and cottages, the Shōsenkyū hot-spring baths, a spa, a 20-court tennis academy and golf courses, among them the Phoenix Country Club, home of the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament every November. The Miyazaki City Phoenix Zoo and the Florante Miyazaki park are run alongside it, and it has hosted the G8 foreign ministers (2000) and the G7 agriculture ministers (2023).
Eda Shrine is only about 0.5 km away in a straight line. We have not checked a public-transport route, so plan the journey on the map.
