Lake Suwa (諏訪湖, Suwa-ko) is a lake in the Kiso Mountains, in the central region of Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

Lake Suwa (諏訪湖) is one of the standout places to visit in Nagano. Give yourself unhurried time for photos, seasonal views, and nearby food stops. IC cards such as Suica, Pasmo, or ICOCA cover most trains and city buses.

Clear water that changes colour with the light, from deep blue in summer to jade after rain.

Good to know before you go

Paths near falls stay wet and slippery — wear shoes with grip, not sandals.
Water volume peaks after rain and during snowmelt; the falls are far more dramatic then.
Boat services shrink or stop in winter, so check the seasonal timetable before travelling.
