What this place is
Miyajima (宮島町, Miyajima-chō) was a town located on the island of Itsukushima in Saeki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. As of 2019, the town had an estimated population of 1,564 and a density of 51.46 persons per km2. The total area was 30.39 km2.

Why it is worth the trip

- Eat seafood caught that morning at a port-side restaurant.
- Stay overnight if you can — the island empties out after the last ferry and the night sky is excellent.
